〜ても (Even if)

What is 〜ても?

〜ても (temo) expresses "even if" or "even though," indicating that the result remains the same regardless of the condition. It shows hypothetical or actual concession.

English equivalent: "even if," "even though," "no matter"

Structure: [Verb て-form / い-adj くて / な-adj でも / Noun でも] + も

行く (iku - go) → 行って + も = 行っても
"even if I go"

高い (takai - expensive) → 高くて + も = 高くても
"even if it's expensive"

便利 (benri - convenient) → 便利で + も = 便利でも

Basic Formation

With verbs (て-form + も)

Despite actual fact

Concession vs simple contrast

ても - Strong concession:

Common Mistakes

Mistake 1: Wrong て-form

Use correct て-form: 行く → 行って → 行っても

Use でも, not だても.
