ぜ (ze) / さ (sa) / な (na) - Casual Particles

Learn Japanese casual sentence-ending particles ぜ (ze), さ (sa), and な (na) for informal conversation.

ぜ (ze) - Casual Emphasis

Lighter masculine emphasis than ぞ:

いいぜ - "It's good!"
行くぜ - "I'm going!"
分かったぜ - "Got it!"

Characteristics:

  • Masculine but softer than ぞ
  • Casual/friendly
  • Young male speech

さ (sa) - Casual Filler

Softens statements, like "you know":

そうさ - "That's right, you know"
知らないさ - "I don't know"
いいさ - "It's fine"

Characteristics:

  • Gender-neutral
  • Makes speech sound relaxed
  • Casual conversation only

な (na) - Multiple Uses

1. Prohibition (Don't!)

行くな! - "Don't go!"
触るな! - "Don't touch!"
食べるな - "Don't eat"

Pattern: [Dictionary form] + な

2. Confirmation (Masculine)

いいな - "It's good, right?"
そうだな - "That's right"
美味しいな - "It's delicious"

Similar to ね but more masculine.

3. Admiration

きれいだな - "How beautiful!"
すごいな - "Amazing!"
